Some last thoughts on Faith.

Faith is an trinitarian act(?), that is inductive, deductive, and abductive. It is inductive when at times we base our actions on past evidence. The sun has risen all of the days of my life. So, therefore, I know that the sun will rise tommorow.

It is deductive in that ...I'll think of an example later.

It is abductive in that our reasoning is ultimately supposed to drive us back towards God - not any sort of outcome in a particular matter. BTW, abductive reasoning = backward or retroductive reasoning. ex. Arguing for God's existence via Design or quite possibly II Cor 5:14,15) I'll polish this up later.

Also...Faith is the evidence for my belief in a certain outcome. Imagine the following scenario. Everyday while walking to school you cross paths with someone. You dont know who this person is, but everyday as you walk to school, this someone walks home from school.

You feel convicted that you must pray for this person. This is despite the fact that you have never even exchanged a word with Him/her. You pray that this person will get to know God. As the school semester progresses, you continue to pray for this person. At a certain point during the semester, you tell a friend of yours "This person will get to know God someday." You friend asks you how you know that. She asks you to provide proof.

You reply "I have no physical proof, that is nothing that can appeal to your senses".

So she asks "Well then what proof do you have ?"

You reply "My belief that this person will come to know God is my evidence."

She says "Your evidence is your belief...."

You reply "Yes...why else would I be believing in this if it were not supposed to be happening ?"
